The Pudgerossa - A Remembrance

This site is dedicated to all horse and animal lovers and for those whom suffered great loss and hurt due to circumstances in life. The Pudgerossa used to be a home of refuge to love and care for animals that I took in over the past 21 years. That dream has been shattered and I have been forced to find homes for most of my remaining animals. The Pudgerossa is no longer. Most likely, I too will be forced to leave this place behind and onto a different dirction in my life. This site is for those animals that I had to find homes for and a dedication to the remembrance of The Pudgerossa, which I will never forget.

I'll be talking a look at each of my children I had to find homes for. Every one of them meant very much to me and I loved them all dearly. This was the hardest thing I've ever had to do in my life. Something I would have never dreamed I'd be forced to do.

Here is a look and explanation of each of my babies that I had to give up.

Shooting Star

Star was an Arabian Welsh mix small horse that I trained from a yearling. He is now approximately 22 years old. My Beaner on my Pet Remembrance Page was his mommy. I have many fond memories with Star. One that comes to mind right off is when he broke my wrist in a fall. You never forget those rides. Star taught many a children as well as adults how to ride. He was a good little horse and didn't deserve to be thrown out of his home. I will miss him dearly and I will never forget him.

Delux Accommodations

Delux Accommodations or Dabber as he was called by name, was a registered Quarter Horse. I first met Dabber when he was 3 years old and heading to the slaughter house with two other horses as well. A friend of mine and myself decided to come up with enough money to save all three. He ended up with Tribulyn and her colt and I ended up with Dabber. Although years later, I took Tribulyn in to retire and she too is on my Pet Remembrance Page. Dabber was emaciated and had colic frequently in his early years. Although it took me the better part of 2 years got get this horse healthy, it was worth it in the end. Dabber wound up being the best trained horse that I ever trained in the end. He could do both English and Western gaits. He was good on trails. He knew ground respect. He loaded onto trailers. He had round pen training. This horse had it all. He was sweet to boot. Many memories with him as well for me, and all good ones.

The Horses Story

These poor boys were put into a home initially for all of a week, and the woman decided they would be of no use to her in making her money. I don't think one week is enough time for horses to establish comfort, much less being worked right off. These boys were together on The Pudgerossa for 18+ years. She dragged them from two different barns from the start, which to me is too stressful and I disagree with especially if the boys needed to fit in as herd animals again. She expected way too much from them initially. It's her loss really, if she would have been patient at least two to three weeks, she'd have seen how great they are trained. Not being worked with for 2 to 3 years, obviously they needed to be slowly put back into it. She can't be much of a horse person if she didn't realize this period. No, I don't think she knows horses well at all. Let me try and explain to you the kind of person that she is. This woman wants something...NO EVERYTHING...for nothing. She is selfish, rude, non professional and a down right ignorant human being. If something in her life doesn't benefit her, she treats anyone, any animals and anything like garbage. This I saw to the point were my horses were abused. She has no clue how to properly treat a horse much less give lessons and deal with a human being with any sense of respect period. With everything here I just typed being stated, I made a bad choice in letting this happen to begin with with my horses. Fortunately, they are at a new home were they will be lightgly rode and retire, wandering a beautiful large pasture with an barn for them to go in and out of. Their new owners are wonderful people whom have dedicated much of their lives to caring for animals and have compassion as such that someday they will be blessed for. Unlike others in my life, whom I can only say...what comes around goes around...360.

The Pigeons

I have finally found a home for my pigeons. I saved my original pigeons from being shot in a pigeon shoot. I had a couple of Roller Pigeons as well as many Himalayan Pigeons originally that I had saved. There are still some of those original birds alive to this day with the rest being mixed breeds. They are now with a couple that had pigeons and due to circumstances had to give them up as well a time ago. They were tickled to find my pigeons needing a home and able to take them once again. I know they will be happy with this couple and enjoy the rest of their lives.

Lefty

Lefty was my one remaining goose. I fondly called her Lefty because of that broken wing you see on her right side. I did eventually get the feather trimmed back for her so as she wouldn't hurt herself. Lefty was a good goose, many can be mean. Although a tad caustious of me, she was never mean. Lefty found a dream home I believe. She will be with other geese and ducks with her own pond! I'll bet she is in her glory now. Sometime soon I'll ask about her and the Rooster and Chicken Hen I had that went to the same home are doing.

Ralph & Alice

Ralph and Alice were named after the TV show The Honeymooners by my mother whom had chickens herself as a child. Their finding my stable is quite a cute story. My neighbor had gotten a slew of roosters and chicken hens. These two little guys are called Banny Chickens. They were extremely small and were quickly pushed out of my neighbors yard in hopes of finding food in my stable, which of course they did. Although I didn't have them long, they were adorable and I took good care of them. They too would wind up in the same home as Lefty in a chicken coop with other chickens. I'm sure they are content and happy as well.

Jan Man

Jan Man was my lone Guinea Hen I had left after a neighbor a few years back shot a good number of my Guinea Hens. I had to capture the ones that were not shot in hopes of saving their lives by letting them go back to the farm they came from. Jan Man however, I never did catch. Being he was one of my original Guinea Hens, and survived this long without a predator getting him, I decided he could stay. Because he was alone, he didn't tend to wander far off the farm wanting to be near his stable domain. He was a fun Guinea Hen to watch. He actually knew his name I think. Many times tormenting my dogs to chase him. He even bonded with Ralph & Alice when they were not in a stall. I'll miss this guy, but he too is in his glory. A friend of mine whom has many other Guinea Hens came down one night while he was roosting in the stable. We captured him and he took him to his place to roam with the other Guinea Hens. I ride my bicycle past his home on my rides and I look for him. He isn't in with the main crowd yet, but not far behind. I think he will blend in eventually and be happy to be with his own kind once again without being shot at. I will miss this guy, but will say hello everytime I see the Guineas on my bicycle rides. Jan Man got a great home.

The Pudgerossa

In conclusion thus far, those are the animals I was forced to find new homes for. Heading indoors on The Pudgerossa, I have everyone here yet. I may have to place some, if not all of my birds, depending on if I will be living here or not. I have not ruled that out yet, and don't plan on leaving for a bit yet if I'm not forced to do so. It may be too expensive even without many of the animals. I know I can't maintain the property as well anymore and have a full time job. Of course lastly, I may be forced to sell. Time will tell. All I do knonw is I love this place that God had blessed me with, and to lose it and my children, is emotionally unexplainable. My life will change and for the better in the end wherever I may be. This I am confident in.
